Annyeong Haseyo: South Korea Tourist Visa Application

Before I start writing my short, yet adventurous trip in South Korea with my friends, I'd like to share to you how we got our single-entry tourist visa; 2/6 of the group had it in one go, while the rest of us had to face various obstacles just to have that single-entry visa before our scheduled flight.

I'll be posting the requirements needed for you to comply, tips on how to possibly evade rejection, and if the worst case scenario happened, options you can try out just to get hold of that visa.

P.S. I hope you'll be patient enough to read everything since I don't want to miss out anything, especially the important ones.

Basic requirements:

Everyone, including minors and senior citizens, must have the listed documents for identification purposes.

1. Application form

  • Handwritten or printed.
  • If you choose to write your answers, use a blank ink pen, write in ALL CAPS, and avoid erasures.
  • Write/type "N/A" if it's not applicable.

The funding details part is certainly one of the areas to look out for. I’ll discuss this portion when I get to the additional requirements part.

2. One (1) 35 x 45 mm passport size photo
  • It should be colored and against a plain white background.
  • There's no notification about wearing of collared shirt, but to be safe, I overlaid a collared outfit from the studio to make my appearance look formal.
  • Bring extra copies of your photo in case you need to make necessary corrections in your application form.
3. Passport
  • It should have a remaining validity of six (6) months or more.
4. Passport bio page
  • Have the second page of your passport photocopied.

Additional requirements:

A. For those who are currently employed:

1. Certificate of employment
  • Make sure to submit an original copy with the company letterhead.
  • Stated in the said certificate are the following: your current position, date hired (our HR was generous enough to state the date I started working as a probationary employee and as a regular employee), compensation/salary, office address, HR landline number (cellular number is not allowed), and HR e-mail address.
  • The month you got a copy of your COE should match with the month you decide to apply for a visa.

2. Bank certificate and Bank statement

For bank certificate:
  • It should have the following details: account type, current balance, account opening date, and at least six (6) months average balance (ADB).
For bank statement:
  • It should cover all your statement/passbook activity at least for the last three (3) months.

*** Personal Note:

Truth to be told, I cannot say how much is enough for you to prove to the consul that you're financially capable of supporting yourself.

On the 30th of May, my friend, who is traveling abroad for the first time, and I applied for a visa and got denied despite declaring enough money to cover all our expenses – or so we thought.

Apart from the fact that you have to budget at least Php 10,000 per day, you also need to have at least Php 30,000 or more as your 'emergency' money. If you intend to stay in South Korea for five days, then declaring Php 50,000 or 1,000 USD in your application form sounds convincing. However, you must have at least Php 80,000 in your account for a better chance of getting your visa approved.

I'm not sure about this, but having an ADB higher than Php 10,000 seems safer. What I do know, though, is that you must keep your account active.

3. Photocopy of income tax return or form 2316

  • Avoid submitting the original copy since it'll be difficult and hassle for you to get another copy.
  • If you've been to OECD member countries for the past five (5) years, you might be exempted from submitting a copy of your ITR/Form 2316.

4. Original and photocopy of valid visas and arrival stamps to OECD member countries for the past five (5) years.

5. Alphalist

Official BIR stamp
  • In most cases, your payroll master hands you a copy of your ITR/Form 2316 without BIR stamp. Unless your copy has that stamp, you need to secure a photocopy of your company alphalist with the official BIR stamp.

6. Photocopy of PRC or IBP card
  • Submit a front and back copy of your PRC or IBP card in one page.

B. For those who are currently unemployed:

Same requirements with employed applicants.

*** Personal note:

My friend, who is, by the way, the only guy in the group, and my sister shared the same situation in a sense that both of them were unemployed when they presented themselves in the embassy. However, my friend failed to convince the consul, while my sister had her visa (just to make things clear, my sister applied last October 2016, while my friend applied last May 2017).

Hearing that he can immediately re-apply for a visa after receiving the devastating news, he recollected all the documents needed and secured an affidavit of support legally signed by a lawyer right after his Singapore tour. As stated in his letter, he attached his flight itinerary and booking voucher of our stay. It was also indicated in the letter that his mother would be liable for all legal charges if he weren't to return in the Philippines within the given period of stay.

A week after submitting his application again, he finally received the good news via online.

C. For students/minors:

1. Original school certificate
2. Photocopy of school ID
3. Photocopy of NSO-issued birth certificate
4. Parents' supporting financial documents
  • Original copy of certificate of employment
  • Bank certificate and bank statement
  • ITR/Form 2316 (plus alphalist if there's no official BIR stamp in the ITR/Form 2316)
  • Photocopy of their NSO-issued marriage certificate
5. Original and photocopy of valid visas and arrival stamps to OECD member countries for the past five (5) years.

*** Personal note:

After spending days in Japan with her family as her graduation gift, my friend hurriedly compiled all the requirements for students. It was impossible to get her visa on time, so she sought advice from the lady from the first window (the same lady who receives and checks the requirements) and was handed with a request of early releasing.

My friend's application got approved on the 12th of June. It was really unexpected to see her status online change from 'application received' to 'approved' on that day since it was officially declared a national holiday.

Nevertheless, it was that time when we learned about the existence of such request.

*** Personal note:

Reason why our first application got denied.
My friend and I gave our application another shot by getting the needed requirements again. Apparently, things didn't go smoothly as planned since the bank where our savings are safely kept can't access all online transactions due to a major glitch in their system. Thankfully, the bank got back to business the following day.

Since the embassy is closed on weekends and Independence Day landed on a Monday, we got to submit our requirements the next day. I wasn't able to relax for three (3) days since I was too busy worrying both for our request for early releasing and my application.

We requested for our application to be released on the 16th, yet the embassy told us to call on that day at around 11:30 in the morning to know whether our request was granted or not. I called as instructed, but was told to call them again at 12:30 in the afternoon. My friend's sister called them at 12:30 in the afternoon, but was informed to call back at 2:30.

My friend tried checking her status online at around 2 and finally felt very much relieved after seeing the word 'approved'. I hurriedly checked mine and also got the good news. Everything was certainly worth the slight tachycardia!

***

My now invalid visa attached in my passport. The pink stamp indicates that I've already used my single-entry visa to enter their country.
I really prayed to God before submitting our application, while waiting for the consul's decision, and after receiving the good news and until now, I still want to thank God for giving us the determination to do the best we can and for the opportunity of being able to re-apply days after we got our passport back. I'd also like to thank my family and friends for the prayers and encouraging words! *High five!*

Sorry for the long entry! I hope that this post can be of great help to you. Aja!

  1. Hi!

Thank you for this post. May I ask if you were unemployed during the time you applied for the visa and got denied. Also, when you re-applied, what were the changes in the documents you submitted. Did you also ask for an affidavit? Thank you!

    1. Hi, Jeneil!

      1. I'm currently employed, yet my first application still got denied.
      2. I increased my savings and filed another bank certificate and bank statement after making obvious changes in my account.
      3. No, I didn't, but my friend did.

      You're welcome! :)

    2. Thank you Claire. But how long did you wait till you filed for another application? I read somewhere that you have to wait for another 6 months before you can re-apply.

    3. You're welcome, Jeneil!

After knowing about our application status online, we were devasted and desperate to ask for an appeal (unfortunately, they don't enterain appeals anymore) or do something just to reverse our application status. When we went to the embassy to get our passport on the 8th of June, we asked the lady from the first window if we could possibly re-apply again and was told that they're open for re-application anytime. We immediately gathered all the requirements and submitted our application again on the 13th of June. :)

    4. Sorry if I have a lot of questions, but when your sister submitted her application did she not include a letter or something explaining why she didn't have a COE since she was unemployed that time? Thank you Claire!😀

    5. Hey, no problem! I'll answer as much questions as I can, so don't worry about it! 😉

Yes, my sister submitted an original copy of her COE. Same thing to my friend who happened to be in the same situation as my sister. 😊 As for my friend, he had financial support from his mother; they even had a joint account just to prove he can sustain himself there and I assume he also gathered all requirements needed to prove that his mother has enough savings to support him financially (like ITR or business permit, bank certificate, bank statement, etc.). 😊

      You're welcome again, Jeneil! 😊

    6. I see, so if you have a previous job you can also submit your COE from your previous company? Thank a bunch Claire! 😀

    7. Hello, Jeneil!

Possibly, but I think it's safer when you got your COE the same month you applied for a visa. 😊

    1. Hello! I apologize for the late reply! Anyway, I hope you got approved in your application, so you won't have to experience what we experienced when we were first denied.

Regarding your question, you just have to re-submit all the requirements and adjust whatever needs to be adjusted (like bank account). In our case, the issue was mainly about financial capability, so we had to prove to the consul that we're not going there as illegal workers but as vacationers by increasing our savings; hence, we issued another copy of our bank statement and bank certificate after updating our savings. :)

  3. Hello! Our visa just got denied last Monday (Aug 14). Just want to ask if they allowed you to re-apply again anytime? And also, what was the reason you got as to why your application was denied? We are currently thinking about re-applying again when we read your post but at the same time, we are hesistating since maybe you got a special re-admission given by the lady in window #1. Thank you! I hope to hear from you soon.

    1. Hello, Korina! Before knowing about the re-application process, we really pleaded to the lady in the first window to let us talk to the consul about our application, but got a "no" as a reponse. They don't reconsider applications anymore; instead, they allow applicants to re-apply anytime.

They didn't find our total savings a guarantee of our return back to the Philippines within the given period. 😐

No, there was no special re-admission when we re-applied. We are not, in any way, connected to the lady or to anyone inside the embassy. We did the best we could and managed to get our visa right on time. 😊

Just try asking the lady via landline (if you don't want to go to the embassy) about the re-application process and gather all the necessary documents again. 😊

    2. Sorry for the late reply! I forgot to ask where did you applied? I'm from Manila.

    3. It's okay, Korina! I should be the one apologizing to you for not attending to your queries right away! Anyway, my friends and I applied in Cebu since we're all from the said city. 😊

I'm not sure if the same rules apply there in Manila, but I do hope you can re-apply immediately just like in Cebu. 😊

    4. It's okay!! :D
Last question (hopefully!): can people from MNL apply in Cebu? Do you have any idea...? The KR Embassy here in MNL is kind of.... strict... I guess? ;;; ;w; Thank you so much for answering TTTTT

      Delete
    5. When I was in the embassy, I heard three girls talking about applying in Manila since they have slimmer chances of convincing the consul here (I don't know what happened in their application, so just don't mind this issue). Hearing that anyone from different provinces can apply in Manila, I assume it's okay for anyone from other regions to apply here. 😊

You're welcome! Feel free to drop questions as much as you can! 😉

    1. Good day, Norman! I'm not sure, but most likely they have some clarifications that need to be verified; however, you failed to answer their call, so they probably decided not to accept your application instead of calling you again since they also have other applicants to screen. ☹️

Yes, you can re-apply immediately after receiving your passport. Did you apply for a multiple-entry visa or just a single-entry visa? Maybe you should try reviewing your requirements again since probably the consul's having doubts with one of your submitted requirements. Yes, you can submit additional requirements as long as it's relevant to their list and your child can definitely join you as long as you can provide them with all the necessary requirements for minors/students. 😊

God bless on your application! 😊

    3. Yes, you can re-apply immediately as they have claimed and as tested. I've heard po na dapat mature enough yung bank account mo (6 months at least) before using it as one of your sources for your savings. I'm not familiar with mastercard, though (I presume it's a credit card).

You're welcome! I hope you won't give up! Korea's such a beautiful country — I swear all those troubles we've gone through were all worth it. 😉

Yes, po. I submitted all the same documents listed, but since I knew it had something to do with my savings, I've decided to increase my declared savings and asked for a new copy of my bank statement and bank certificate for submission. 😊

Please do! I'd love to hear a positive feedback from you! 😊

    1. Hi, Camille! I'm sorry to hear your experience. It's really hard to tell their basis for denying applications, unless it's an obvious flaw. I hope you won't give up in getting your visa! I actually applied here in Cebu and unexpectedly, they allow re-applications immediately after complying all the requirements needed. I'm not sure about the process in Manila, but let's just hope that they've already started to adapt the system of accepting re-applications without restrictions. :)

    3. I think they still have a record of all their applicants' documents, including the date of their submission. Yes, they will only hand you a paper sans the date they checked your application. :)

I think the embassy in Cebu is no longer concerned about the date you submitted your first application; instead, they focus more on the requirements. :)

  11. Hi Claire! First of all, thank you so much for sharing your experience and giving us hope!:) 2 of us got denied too (Reason: You failed to qualify to the visa category that you have applied for). We complied all the requirements. We even travelled already in Australia. We already have round trip ticket and we really dream for this vacation. So after reading your blog, we decided to reapply too. But the problem is, we are from Manila. I read from other blogs that they really don't allow reapplication here. So, we would like to take a shot and reapply in Cebu. Do you think it is possible? We are looking for someone who can apply for us, or a travel agency, we will just send our documents. Thank you in advance and God bless! - Misty

    1. Hi Misty! You and my sister has the same problem. She just got denied yesterday and I checked in visa.go.kr the status of her application, it's stated there na "your application is denied because: 7.Your purpose of entry has not been explained in detail" We're really wondering why ganun yung reason since complete lahat ng documents ng sister ko, we even wrote a letter stating na we'll be travelling together and i'll be the one to finance her trip even though nag pass kami ng bank statement and bank cert nya plus additional documents ko to support her. Kami ng husband ko na approve since meron akong Bpi credit card and 3yr multiple entry kami kaso yung sa sister ko nahuli ng pag pass ng documents nya kesa samin. Meron na din kaming ticket and hotel voucher and we'll be travelling late November. We're from the province pa and we even flew to Manila just to process her application. So now I'm planning to re-apply sa Cebu naman since nag a-accept sila dun.Ipa pa process ko nalang sa travel agency ng kakilala ko para hindi na kami gagastos ng malaki papunta na naman Cebu. -Cassy

    2. Hello, Misty! Sorry to hear about your experience! I even wondered why I got denied when I first applied when in fact, I've already travelled outside the country. Before giving your application another shot, try searching first people sharing their experience na na-deny also for the same reason. I got denied mainly because they're not convinced that I'm financially capable of supporting myself while staying in their country. Searching for blogs really helped me a lot in identifying the problem sa application ko (like possibly how I filled up the form) and possible solution for me to make necessary changes for my re-application (e.g. bank statement and bank certificate).

We actually got an idea of being able to re-apply immediately from an acquaintance since he also got denied when he first applied for a visa, though I didn't fully believe about it until I experienced it first hand — and the lady from the first window also told me that they're open for re-applications anytime. 😊

I can't give a 100% yes na they'll accept applicants from Manila, but let's pray lang po na sana they'll accept your application immediately. 🙏🏼

If you let the travel agency apply for you, better talk first about the necessary documents to submit and if ano po talaga ang kailangan to guarantee a successful application. I hope the agent who will handle your application would be a cooperative one para smooth na yung flow. 😊

      Few questions though:
      1) Do you already have any travel agency to entrust your documents with? May I have the name of the travel agency, if you already have?
      2) Claire, how do you go about the early releasing of the visa? Is it the Embassy's decision or can we request for it? (My friend, my sister and I have our flight on the first week of November and there's a holiday on October 31, November 1 and 2) ;n;

Again, thank you! Hoping for your reply as well. :) - Apryl

    4. Hello, Apryl! You can ask the lady from the first window if it's possible for you to have your application status released on your requested date. If yes, she'll hand you the request for early releasing. In this case, I think it's best if you personally go to the embassy since you need to answer the questions stated in the form. ☺️

Though you'll be given the said request, it is still the consul's decision whether to consider your application to be checked as soon as possible or not. Let's just hope and pray that your application's clear from doubts, so your status will be released earlier than usual. 🙏🏼

  14. Hi Claire!
I got denied also. I applied for a SK Visa in Manila two weeks ago via travel agency. Last Monday (Oct 16) I received a call from the embassy and had a short interview with just what was written in my application form. I got the information this morning that I was denied.
My situation is I was recently hired last June at a local business establishment so I still don't have an ITR. But prior to that and up to present, I worked as a freelance worker as my sideline (online job) for 5 years. I did not include the online job as part of the requirements sent during my application since I also do not have an ITR for that also. My reason for being in an online job for 5 years was so that I can pursue an additional degree of study and have been in school 2 years ago.
After reading your blog and comments, I suddenly felt again the burning desire to reapply, and maybe I would try my luck in Cebu.
I plan on preparing again the documents next week.
Will a cover letter stating my intentions of travel, having an online job and going to school, and reassurance of me being able to finance myself and go back here in the Philippines be a contributing factor to get approved?
I'm really at loss of words. I just wanted badly to visit the country ever since I was a teenager.
    :(

    1. I do have a BDO Gold Visa credit card pero problema is 1 month pa lang since activation. Will it also help? Also, is it okay to submit a photocopy of the card (just the front picture)? I'm afraid kase of credit card phishing.
And since I didn't have an ITR, I submitted an affidavit which was notarized para mapakita na kaka-start ko pa lang sa work, pero still di rin na-approve. :(

    2. Hello, Tangerine! I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. ☹️ Anyway, may I know the reason why you got denied (as stated on the paper they hand to you once you claim your passport)? It would really be of great help if you also read blogs about your current situation, so you'll have an idea as to what to bring or show to the consul if you intend to re-apply in Cebu. ☺️

In my opinion, seeking support from your parents can be a good idea. In the case of my friend, they had to file for an affidavit of support to assure the consul that he will return back to the Philippines. It may be a bit hassle since you'll be gathering additional requirements, but it's one of the safest options you have as of now. ☺️

Unfortunately, your BDO card isn't mature enough to be submitted as part of your requirements. ☹️ They'll surely question you about it.

    3. Hi Claire! I have yet to get my passport pa sa agency. Bukas try ko call para tanungin ano nakasulat sa paper.
Unfortunately wala pa talaga ako nahanap na same ng situation ko kaya I don't know what to do. I plan to go to Cebu this week if God-willing hindi mabusy.

I am also confused if I would both bring the requirements of an employee and as well as for the affidavit from my parents. Is there a format of how to write about it? Will I also need to bring a copy of my father's Bank Certificate & Bank Statement since I already obtained a copy through his consent.

    5. Hi tangerine! Yung sakin 1month rin yung BPI Gold card ko pero pinasa ko pa rin and got 3 year multiple entry visa. Just pass the original statement ng credit card mo plus a photocopy of your card (front only). For sure ma-aaccept rin yun.

    6. Pahabol..hehe! If you have the credit card, you don't need to pass your ITR. Nasa website nila yung sa promo ng BPI and BDO...

    7. Hi Cassy! Oh my thank you for that wonderful information! I will add my credit card to one of my requirements then. Thank you so much!!!

    8. "Please be reminded of the below information to avail of the BDO and BPI promo.

Latest original credit card account statement and photocopy of the credit card should be submitted during visa application.

Original credit card should also be presented to the visa officer.

For applicants who receive their statements through email, they should visit the bank to acquire the original copy of the statement. Printed copy of the emailed account statement will NOT be accepted.

Requirements other than the exempted documents (Bank Certificate and ITR) should still be submitted."

Copied from the Visa Announcement Section sa website ng Korean Embassy. Though hindi naman nila hinanap yung card ko para i-present pa sa kanila nung nag apply ako. As long as yung original statement of acct mo and photocopy of the cc naka file together with other documents, ok sila. :)

    9. Hello, Tangerine!

In case you've decided to seek help from your parents, you need to submit an original copy of their bank certificate, bank statement, a photocopy of their ITR together with the stamp (or if there's none, ask your parents to get a copy of the alphalist from their workplace), COE. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but it's better to include an affidavit of support to strengthen your proof of returning back to the Philippines within the given period of stay. :)

    10. Thank you for the information, Cassy! :)

    11. Thank you for the load of information Ms. Cassy and Claire!
I already have the ITR, COE, Marriage Certificate, Bank Statement, Bank Certificate & Statement of my father. However, the ITR from their company is called substituted since getting an alpha list would be too long according to their HR. I am concerned because it does not have a BIR stamp, but the HR said it is okay to use it for applying any visa.
Another concern, I plan to let my friend who resides in Cebu to submit my requirements? Will it lessen my chances? And I won't be able to show my credit card :(
But I will also include a photocopy of my BDO gold cc and good thing I read here that it should be the original credit card statement since I only printed the email version.

      Delete
    12. Hi Tangerine! I read some comments in other blogs na ok lang daw kahit walang BIR stamp kasi yun din daw binibigay ng HR nila and yun din pinasa nila sa consul.I just don't know baka trip lang din ng consul pahirapan yung iba.hehe! With regards to the credit card, I submitted a scanned copy of my Gold credit card (front only) and original cc statement. Agency kasi nagprocess ng papers ko so hindi na nila nakita yung credit card ko but still I was given a 3yr multiple entry. Siguro as long as merong kang cc statement and copy ng card, I think hindi na nila hahanapin yung card mo :)

My sister is currently reviewing for her board exam. But by the time na kukuha kami ng visa, tapos na ang review nya and yung board exam. What documents should she pass since hindi sya makakapag submit ng COE and ITR dahil unemployed sya. Is it okay na magpasa ng explanation letter? Also, will they be accepting credit card kahit supplementary lang? hehe

Hope to hear from you soon!

    1. Hi, Kristine! Sorry for the late reply! Anyway, given that she's still unemployed, she can just seek support from your parents. She needs to submit your parents' COE, ITR with the BIR stamp (or alphalist if there's no stamp), bank statement, etc. Also, you can include a notarized letter indicating that your parents will cover all expenses for your trip (so they need to sign the letter). ☺️ I'm not sure about the credit card part, though. 😅

I thank God 'coz He really listened and answered my prayer! 9am this morning, I checked Korea Visa Portal if the status of my sister's application has been changed, from Application Received to Under Review and now to Status APPROVED! So thankful I stumbled upon your blog. I really don't know what to do at first when we learned that my sister's application got denied in Manila, but because of your blog we were given hope, we gathered all necessary documents, added some attachments like flight itinerary, hotel voucher and a cover letter and did the processing all over again but this time we sent it in Cebu Korean Embassy with the help of a travel agency. Thank goodness I tried what you did and I did not regret doing it despite the negative comments I heard from the others. We are now finalizing our SoKor Itinerary and we're so excited to experience the cold season of Korea 9days from now. Thank you again, Ms.Claire, we couldn't have done it without you! :) :) :)

  26. Hi everyone!
I just wanna share my story.
I applied for a Korean Visa in Manila and got my denied result on a rainy Dec. 8th.
I have already bought a ticket (promo VIA Jejuair) last July and I was devastated.
Ive been to Korea once last year. backpacking but was worried about my application for this year.

I backpacked to Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam from Sept. just to get more stamps and increase the chance of getting approved.

Shortcut to Manila, application, I was denied and my winter wonderland is slowly vanishing, but I never thought of giving up.

even before applying, I read different blogs and experiences of people about their application, just to prepare myself for a backup plan.

I saw Ms Claire's entry in another blog and read about her re-application. Searched for her own blog and this!

So the day I got my passport back, I already made some changes with my bank account, booked hostels in Seoul and prepped my docs, sent them to Cebu (Debalucos Travels). They passed my application documents on Dec 15th, stub was dated Dec 27th.

I tried checking the VISA PORTAL on last Tuesday night, a rainy night just like Dec 8th, and VOILA status was : APPROVED. I couldnt contain my happiness!! I checked the next day, and the following day and today just to see if there are changes but it is still the same, APPROVED.

The ticket I bought was not used but that's okay.
    Bec Winter, Im coming!

Do you think though that the portal is accurate? I hope it is. I will receive my passport next week from the Agency.

I just want to thank this blog for giving me hope and being a way to realize my winter dream!

Thank you and Thank God above all!

    So guys, dont give up!

Since your case is different from ours, it’d be best if you look for blogs with the same situation as yours for more precised details. 😊 We got denied mainly because of insufficient money in our bank account. 😊 How long are you planning to stay in the country? Am holding a managerial position but my declared salary in my COE is much lesser (17K only) than a usual manager receives because our monthly incentives is treated differently. 1. Hello, Denz! My salary is even lower than 20k, but I do have enough money to convince the consul that I’m capable of financing myself in their homeland. How long will you be staying in South Korea? If it’s less than a week, that’s already good enough to prove that you’re financially okay to stay in their country as tourist. 😊 Just make sure to keep your bank account active. 😊

      Delete
  33. Thank you Ms. Claire 😊😊 If i will be staying for 8 days, how much would be the safe estimated expenses that i need to indicate in my application form? Or would there be issues if my actual period of stay is different from what reflects on my application form? Lets say in my application form is 5days and actual is 9 days. Thank you

    ReplyDelete

    1. I can’t give you a full assurance of the amount needed to get the consul’s approval, but I’ve heard that you should allocate an amount of 10k per day of stay in the country. To be safe, you should have 110k+ in your account (as emergency money). I highly discourage you to give false information in your application, so you’ll be able to provide them with supporting documents in case you want to strengthen your chance of winning the consul’s heart. 😉

    3. Hi EHC,
san pong agency kau nagpaprocess paCebu?
Same scenario po ba kau ng friend ko? sana masagot huhu
My friend is a regular contractual position in a company with a monthly income na 15k a month, provided nmn lahat ng needed documents pero denied po ang result.
Will try po na magpassist sa cebu ang mga supporting docu na maproprovide nya ay:
Bank cert and statement na may dagdag from the original na pasa namin sa manila
Actual amount sa acct : 67k
Budget na ilalagay sa form : 67k
      Confirmed airfare for 7 days
Confirmed airbnb booking for 7 days
Then ITR copy from HR without Alphalist or BIR stamp, COE, appeal letter, application form and other basic requirement.
may masasuggest pa po ba kaung pede ko madagdag? Ok na po ba sa tingin nyo ang ipapasa ko?

    4. Hello, Ehc! Yes, it’s all thanks to God for giving you that gift. 🙏🏼 I’m glad you didn’t give up! Congratulations! 😊

    5. Hi better ask debalucos agency about it you can check debalucos fb page and the one posted by ms misty

    6. Hi EHC, we already passed our docu in debalucos pero hinihingan kami ng ITR with bir stamp/alphalist, nakapagbigay din ba kau? Kayo ba meron?

      Were from manila pa po.TIA

      Delete
    7. Oo meron naman. Tell the agency na if they can ask for early releasing pagpasa nila. If not no choice move nyo nalang yung date ng travel nyo kesa masayang yng airfare and accommodation nyo.

  38. Hi ms. Claire & everyone! Update ko lang...pinasa na ng agent ko ang application namen sa embassy sa Cebu. Tinanggap naman po nila. Tinanggal nga lang other extra attachment ko. Yung letter, ticket, itinerary and hotel reservation. Tinanong din sya if ano relationship ng agent ko sa akin since im not there to pass the dox. Babalik sya on march 5, w/ original authorization. Im happy tinanggap nila giving m..also medyo kinakabahan nman sa result since tinanggal yun letter ko explaining myself to them. Hope they reconsider. Praying & hopeful 😊

  45. Hi Everyone!

I just found out today that I got denied with my SK visa application in Manila. Just to share I'm employed as a writer that's based in Singapore but has an office here in Manila. My bank account contained 110K with an ADB of 80K. I completed all documents so just imagine my shock when I received the bad news. :(

Will try my luck in Cebu and hopefully they're are still accepting re-applications. My flight is already this April 10. Please wish me luck!

I hope you can still re-apply in Cebu and issue an early release of your visa. I wish you all the best! 😊

    1. Hello, Wenditako! Unfortunately, they won’t be accepting applications without completing all the necessary documents, which includes a stamp from BIR or alphalist. In my experience, it didn’t take days for me to grab a copy of our company’s alphalist. I hope the same process goes to your friend. 🙏🏼

If your friend has acquired the aforementioned, he or she can already re-apply. Additionally, you can also tell him or her to file for an early releasing. 😊

    2. Thanks dear.
I asked one agency that was mentioned here. But they said early release is not possible for reapplication :(
she’ll process her itr with bir stamp. the only thing she can use as her edge is the invitation letter from her korean friend. she tried reapplying at manila last week of march, they accepted the application yet they didn’t process. I’m hoping they will approved my friend’s application at cebu. 😪

    3. When we asked the lady about the early releasing, she just gave us a piece of paper and filled up the necessary information asked on the paper. It was days after our application was denied. I hope so too! 🙏🏼

  48. Hi everyone! Just like most here, my application for visa also got denied. Our agency here in Manila submitted our documents March 2 and the result was released March 13 but I was only informed March 16. My bf and his mom's application got approved. I was so devastated coz I cant seem to think of the reason why I got denied since I already got a visa from them few years ago and my bank certificate reflects enough money for the trip. I searched for ways on how I can make an appeal then I saw this blog! Thanks to Claire and all who shared their experiences here. I immediately gathered again all my necessary documents and looked for an agency to process my application. I said that if within that week I cannot find an agency to process my application it would already be impossible since our supposed to be flight is april 8 and if ever I should rebook I have to make it before that day. And we are talking about agency in Cebu here and I am based in Manila so my docs have to travel for days to and from Cebu. I even sent an email to the korean consulate in there to make sure if they really accepts applications from whom got denied by the embassy in manila and they said yes. I was in a rush coz it is almost Holy Week and all offices will be closed for days. Then I was able to get in touch with Bigstart Travel Agency. I immediately sent all my documents to their office on March 21 and my agent received it March 26. It took so long to be delivered. She said that my documents will be filed on March 27. A night before that, I got another anxiety attack cos I've read that starting March 26 all 1st or 2nd time applicants should also submit an alphalist! I was so nervous that they wont be able to file my papers. Before noon on 27th my agent texted me and she said that my passport will be released on April 6. I got relieved. She said I didn't need an alphalist since my ITR already have a received stamp from BIR. From "denied" status in visa website it changed to "application receieved". Here comes April 6. From 7am, almost every 30 mins I check the website to see my status but it didn't changed. Then by 10:30am it changed to "under review" then when I refreshed it again just before 11am my status is already "approved"! I almost screamed! I finally felt relieved. I immediately rebooked our flight to April 17 to give myself time to plan properly for this trip. Again, thanks to all who shared their experiences here because without you guys I wont be able to know how and have the courage to re-apply again.

  50. Hi, there. I really appreciate this blog post. I'm currently feel at edge because I've tried to file a visa application but was declined for processing for various. It's not exactly denied, just we need this and that before they accept our documents and process our request. I'm actually in a hurry because I already booked a ticket set on the second half of May. I'll be going back there and make sure that there won't any documents missing on our application. Anyhow, I just want to know how much the recommended amount indicated on the bank certificate/statement is for three family members staying in South Korea for five days. We have documents from four different bank accounts and I think the total is around PHP 117,000.

    1. Hi there! Thank you for appreciating my post! It truly means a lot! 💖 Regarding your question, I can’t give you an exact estimation of your ideal budget since I don’t know their basis in granting applications. However, you should make sure not to excessively write your desired budget nor write an impossible amount in your application form for two possible reasons: 1) You need to spare enough money for emergency purposes, 2) Without doubt, the consul will see to it that the amount you’ve declared in your application form is believably close to your declared savings.

Personally, your estimated budget is fine, but increasing it would be safer. It may not be a guarantee that you and your family will have the consul’s approval once you have a higher fund than the previous, but just to make sure. 😊

Let’s hope and pray that all of you will have your visa in one go. God bless! 🙏🏼

  52. Thank you so much for this blog. Nabuhayan ako ng loob. I was denied yesterday because of "The purpose of entry was not explained in detail".
