All Of A Sudden

A photography-related post.

While I was scrolling down my newsfeed on Facebook, I saw a certain picture generally comparing the types of photographers around the world.

Here's my say regarding that picture:

1) So what if someone's mainly dependent on auto? Does that make him less of a photographer? Personally, as long as he doesn't use his overpriced camera on mirror shots at all times, I don't think that'd be considered as useless junk. We all started shooting with our digital cameras (which is set in auto by default) and that's not something to be ashamed of. What you basically need is a good composition.

2) Tagging your friends or relatives, by the way, can mean a lot of things. Just because someone tagged his friends and/or relatives on his latest photograph, doesn't mean he's being boastful. Sometimes, one needs encouragement or good criticism to continue improving himself in that field. Probably, tagging his buddies is a way for him to see their comment(s). Or just like in my case, I tag people who're closely associated with my subject. I tag, not for the sake of hearing those 'oh, you take great shots!' statement, but for the sake of making those people tagged under that certain photo happy after seeing their loved ones pose freely in front of the camera.

3) If you're a real photographer, then keep it to yourself rather than insulting other people's works. Everyone can be a real photographer. What matters most is your attachment towards your subject, not your camera's blur background effect.

I'm not hating here or something. This is just my opinion regarding that picture. It's pretty sad to hear that people are slowly neglecting others just because they don't know how to use their cameras properly or because they're not that good enough in taking pictures. There's always a room for improvement. Instead of insulting other people for using 'auto', why don't you help them so they can learn more about manual setting.

But yeah, it's pretty important to know your subject too.
